Dozer Base is the office software for dirt work companies. It works on the web and on the iPhone. This page covers what we keep, why we keep it, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted. Dozer Base is run by Baylor Weathers. In this policy, “we” means Dozer Base.
The short version: we keep what you put in so the software can do its job. We don’t sell it, we don’t show you ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
What you give us
- Your account. Your name, email address and password. The password is stored hashed, so nobody can read it.
- Your company. Its name, web address, logo, rates, settings and the people on your team with their roles.
- Your work. Clients, leads, quotes, projects, jobs, machines, meter readings, service history, materials, suppliers, invoices and payments you record, photos you upload, and the pages of your company’s website.
- Why you left, if you say. When you delete your account, we ask why. Answering is optional. We keep the answer without your name or email attached.
Some of that is about other people, like your clients’ names, phone numbers and site addresses, and the details of a lead. You put it there to run your business, and we treat it as yours. We only use it to show it back to you and your team, and to put it on the invoices you send.
What your customers give us
When someone asks for a quote through your company’s website, we keep their name, phone number, email, the site address, and what they wrote, and we pass it to your company as a lead. When a customer opens an invoice you sent, they see only that invoice.
We count visits to company websites so the owner can see which pages people look at and which sites sent them. We keep a count for each page and each referring site per day. We don’t keep anything that identifies the visitor.
What we collect on our own
- Sign-in sessions, so you stay signed in. The website uses a cookie for this. The iPhone app keeps its session in the phone’s keychain.
- Visits to dozerbase.com. We use Vercel Analytics to count page views on our own website. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites. The iPhone app has no analytics.
- A copy on your phone. The iPhone app saves some of your company’s data on the phone so it still works with a bad signal. It stays on that phone and is removed when you sign out or delete the app.
We don’t collect your location, contacts or health data, and we don’t use advertising identifiers.
Who else sees it
Nobody, except the services Dozer Base runs on and the ones you choose to connect:
- Convex stores the data and runs the app’s server.
- Vercel serves the website, your company’s site and any custom domain you connect.
- Stripe handles card payments, but only if your company connects its own Stripe account. Card numbers go straight to Stripe. We never see or store them. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what it does with them.
Inside a company, everyone on the team can see the company’s records. On your public website, people see only what you publish there. Client names, site addresses, rates and your own notes never appear on it.
We will share information if the law requires it. We don’t sell or rent it to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. If you try the sample job without signing up, that guest session and its sample company are cleared on their own after a while.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself. On the web, go to Settings, then Your account. On the iPhone, go to More, then Delete account. The app shows you what will happen before anything is removed:
- If you’re the only person in a company, the company is deleted with your account. That includes its records, uploaded files and any custom domain.
- If other people are in a company, you’re taken off it and whatever you entered stays for them. If you’re the only owner, make someone else an owner first.
- Your sign-in details and sessions are deleted.
If you can’t sign in, email privacy@dozerbase.com from the address on the account and we’ll delete it for you.
Your customers’ information
If you’re a customer of a company that uses Dozer Base and you want to see, correct or delete what that company keeps about you, ask the company first. They control those records. If they can’t help, email us.
Keeping it safe
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each company’s records are kept apart on the server, not just hidden in the app, and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects your information, we’ll tell you.
Children
Dozer Base is business software, not meant for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change what we collect or who sees it, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll let account holders know first.
